Shell Eco-marathon is a large-scale competition conducted by Shell yearly in Asia, Europe, and the Americas. Around 200 student teams worldwide prepare for months to develop an energy efficient vehicle that represents sustainable future development. Not only is technical prowess necessary but so is managerial proficiency. The project demands absolute dedication, as was exhibited by Team NUST Ecomotive.
Team NUST Ecomotive, which comprises of talented engineers majorly from the School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering (SMME) under the supervision of Dr.Sami-ur-Rehman Shah, is now the first team from NUST H-12 to successfully design and build a vehicle for competing in Shell Eco-marathon. In 2017, at Shell Eco-marathon France, Team NUST Ecomotive acted as a source pride for their institution and country when they passed the technical inspection with flying colors and drove their vehicle on the international track.
Having to start from scratch with limited financial resources the first time they made their vehicle, Team NUST Ecomotive only realized their project due to their unwavering determination in the face of all hurdles. The team is currently working on manufacturing a new and improved vehicle to outperform themselves at Shell Eco-marathon Asia which is to be held in Singapore in 2018.
